nanas in the bahamas

Our annual family vacation is here and off to the bahamas we go!

my husbands family love the bahamas, this is our 6th time in the bahamas but our 3rd time in the exuma islands. we have been to turks & caicos, eleuthera and the ultimate favourite exuma. the colors of the water, private beaches and the luxury villas that they have in the exuma island has been pretty hard to beat...hence why we keep coming back!

although its our 3rd time here, it's always beautiful and always something fun to go see and do...well i try to anyways...i make sure i find something new when exploring a place i haVE BEEN TO ALREADY, just to make things a little more fun and intEresting, there's always something new to find.

one thing that was my ultimate favourite find was the "swings in the water" at the coco plum beach, we always go to this beach as its only 15 miles away from our villa, however, due to the failed fyre festival, they left some goodies behind and one of them was this super fun & insta worthy prop for us to play on and swing in the ocean! i was happy to say all the family loved it too, especially seeing my father in law swing his grandchildren made it a little more exciting and super adorable!

take a peek into our family vacation...

Dear Ocean,
Thank you for making us feel tiny, humble, inspired & salty...all at once!

WHERE WE STAYED:

JIMMY HILL EXUMA VACATION VILLAS

APART FROM THE NANAWALLS THAT ATTRACTED US HERE, THESE VILLAS ARE PERFECT FOR OUR FAMILY IN SO MANY WAYS!

MY FATHER IN LAW RENTS 2-3 HOUSES EVERY YEAR DEPENDING ON THE AVAiLiBILITY AND ALSO WHO IS COMING. EACH HOUSE HAS 3-4 BEDROOMS, PERFECT FOR COUPLES & KIDS. AND LARGE FAMILIES. THERE IS ALSO A HUGE LIVING AREA, LARGE KITCHEN FOR A BIG FAMILY FOR COOKING, BALCONY WITH BEACHFRONT VIEWS, LARGE OUTDOOR AREA FOR SITTING, COMMON POOL AREA WITH A GORGEOUS BEACH ALL TO YOURSELF! A MUST STAY IF IN EXUMA WITH YOUR FAMILY! THE PRICE IS SUPER AFFORDABLE TOO, AND IT'S ONLY 10 MINS AWAY FROM THE AIRPORT, SO ONCE YOU CLEAR CUSTOMS YOU ARE ONLY 15 MINUTES AWAY FROM HAVING SAND IN YOUR TOES!

below i have listed some of the must go & must do places when in exuma.

have a bahamian time!

enjoy! xo

life is better at the beach

COCO PLUM BEACH

This time my number 1 thing to do in Exuma was to swing in the caribbean sea! COCO PLUM beach made it happen (and ofcourse, the Fyre Festival). A beautiful long beach with numerous swings so everyone gets a turn. MAKE SURE TO CHECK THE HIGH TIDE/LOW TIDE times before you go!

AUGUSTA BAY-"Frankie Banana's"

The new tiki bar in the Bahamas. Located right off the Augusta Bay hotel. This small hotel is located on the way to Georgetown, but the tiki hut restaurant caught my eye and reminisced of our Maldivian honeymoon days. Great place for breakfast and drinks!

STOCKING ISLAND- CHAT & CHILL LTD

One of my favourites every time we visit, a really relaxing place to chill by the water under the hammock. Sip on some cocktails, swim with the Stingrays and enjoy some good old downtime.

{This is personally a sentimental spot for me, the famous cute hammock was where I put rocked my little Amira to sleep when she only 6 months, then swung her at 18 months and this time she got on it herself to play-good memories}

TROPIC OF CANCER BEACH

Ok, so not my favourite since it was almost an hour drive for what I think was almost the same beach right across our villas, and it had hardly any kind of shade! Yet this is known for being the prettiest beach in Exuma, consisting of "white powder sand & cresecent blue waters" The beach is named after the meridian line that defines the northern extent of the tropics and crosses right through it.

FISH FRY GEORGETOWN

A cute place for some evening fun! There is all kinds of cute little restaurat & bars here, looks out to the ocean while  you can grab a conch salad or a cocktail. Also some fun places for Insta-worthy pics! LOTS OF COLORFUL BACKGROUNDS!

IGUANA ISLAND

Feed the Iguanas some lettuce or just walk around and try to snap away {if they don't hide away}. Allen's Cay is one of the few places where you can still find these fearsome looking, yet gentle creatures. They are friendly as long as you bring them gifts of lettuce or other vegetables!

CATCH A FIRE

Hands down the best sunset views of the Island, sip on cockatails or grab a bit to eat for dinner.

GRAND ISLE RESORT & SPA

This was my second time and it's the perfect place to come for a delicious smoothie or scoop of ice cream in the evening or for a yummy breakfast. The first time a date with my husband and the second time a mummy spa day with my sister in laws. They have a large menu of food and also a long list of treatments, you will be spoilt for choice! Both are great for that resort pampering feel. You deserve it!

CONCH SHELL BEACH

Right off the Fish Fry town, there is a hidden conch shell beach, the conchs are from the Salad bar thrown into the sea, ultimately leaving behind a gorgeous tide of pink shells for you to go see or take home!  Theres also a shipwreck right behind the beach for you to explore.

GEORGETOWN

If you are a souvenir senti like me, this is the place to go! There are a few stores and marketplaces in Georgetown, so get exploring and take home some super cute goodies for loved ones or even for yourself!

{I have started collecting dolls from each country I visit for my Amira, so when she grows up she has a collection of dolls from all over the world}

SANDY CAYS

This is what my husband calls "the highlight" of the boat trips we did. Sandy Cay is a long stretch of sand where scenes from Pirates of the Caribbean were filmed. The softest sand you will ever feel and the most relaxing place to have your lunch. Who wouldn't mind sitting in the middle of the ocean to have a sandwich right?

COMPASS CAY

Unfortunately, we didn't go this time around, however, the last time we visited Exuma this was one of the most exhilarating, terrifying yet super cool things we did. You can pet, swim & feed the sharks here at Compass Cay. They are nurse sharks so they "shouldn't" bite..are you willing to take a chance? It's a fun experience you must do when visiting the Island!

THUNDER-

BALL GROTTO

A must see tourist trap in Staniel Cays! This grotto was a place where the BOND movie was shot, its filled with wildlife and amazing fishes. Great to go when its low tide so you can enjoy swimming through the beautiful corals and amazing wildlife. A super cool and majestic experience.

we didn’t realise we were making memories, we just knew we were having fun
