oh Bali...WHAT A JOURNEY!!!
what was supposed to be 10 days turned out to be 15, The mount agung erupted on the night before our departure but travel is all about the unknown and the journey within to really feel like it was an experience.
bali was one of the most eXhausting trips i have ever done, NOT ONLY DID IT TAKE US OVER 24 HOURS FLIGHT TIME TO GET THERE BUT IT WAS 15 DAYS OF HOT HUMID WEATHER WITH JUNGLE RETREATS, EXOTIC DRAGONFRUIT acai bowls, SAFARI EXCURSIONS, ISLAND HOPPING,, BEACH SNORKELLING, HIKING WATERFALLS AND THOUSANDS OF TEMPLE VISITS. I CAN HONESTLY SAY I HAVE SEEN IT ALL IN BALI AND SOME HAD IT'S PERKS AND SOME NOT SO MUCH.
THERE WAS AN AURO OF BALI THAT I REALLY DIDN'T LOVE, (WE CAN AGREE TO DISAGREE ON THIS) BUT THEN THERE WAS PARTS OF BALI THAT MADE ME FALL IN LOVE : tHE PEOPLE! thE BALINESE PEOPLE HAVE THE KINDEST SOULS, THE SOFTEST HEARTS AND THE MOST WARMest WELCOMES. WE LOVED MAKING TAXI FRIENDS WHO BECAME PART OF OUR TRIP, THEY JOINED US ON HIKES, ATE DINNER WITH US AND HAD SOME GOOD FROZEN COFFEES WITH WHEN WE WENT CHOCOLATE TASTINGS. THEY BECAME FAMILy, TEACHING US thier CULTURE AND TRADITIONS, aLL IN ALL, BALI WAS NOT ONE OF MY FAVOURITE PLACES TO HAVE VISITED and IT WAS NOT SOMEWHERE I WOULD LOVE TO GO AGAIN, HOWEVER, I AM LUCKY AND BLESSED TO SAY WE DID SEE SOME AMAZING PLACES AND THE JUNGLE VILLAS that we stayed in WERE JUST BREATHtAKING.
we ended our trip with the mount agung erupting which had last erupted in 1963, crazyiness! Just two days before the eruption we overlooked the Mount Agung while standing at the Pura Lempayung temple- In our short stay in Bali the volcano erupted 4 times within a week. it took us A 13 hour drive from BALI to SURABAYA, a ferry ride to the neighboring island, 9 hours waiting on standby for any flight out of Indonesia, spending a night in SURABAYA and then finally catching a 2 hour delayed flight to JAKARTA to spend another night, a flight to jakarta to taiwan and finally a 14 hour flight to sf! Happy to say we got home safe & sound and boy were we glad to be home!
our ultimate bali bucket list
My favourite thing ever is to go where i have never been...but oh my did we go where we did not even expect. it was quite a journey...
we went on some unique adventures this time, seeing temples all over indonesia was very interesting, each temple had it's own unique flair.
aside the temple, my ultimate favourite part of bali was the tegalalang rice paddies, it was amazing to see the hard work and labor that goes into our stir fried rice we make for dinner. you appreciate the effort and work everyone does just to live, it's ever so special. it's the people that make bali such a special place, it's the warm souls and sweet gestures that really made us feel safe and connected in bali.
we ticked off a lot of bucket list places on our trip like the kelingking beach, the lempuyang temple, THE BALI SWING & one of the scariest things: the monkey forest.
all in all; it was an interesting AND HUMBLING experience

Bali is the home to many waterfalls. It's hard to choose between them all. This was one of our favourites.
An off-the beaten path waterfall with a small hike that even my 3 year old toddler was able to do- the atmosphere and beauty of the waterfall make everyone love to stay here. Banyumala Waterfall is not overwhelmed with tourists. It's perfect for a quiet and peaceful afternoon in the arms of Mother Nature.
Peaceful, serene and jaw droppingly beautiful.

This jungle forest is home to around 700 monkeys.
